The Cedarcrest Red Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Bellevue Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Cedarcrest got the win against Renton by a conclusive 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Quinn Larson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cedarcrest got a massive performance out of Luke Thompson, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Thompson has posted since back in May of 2024. Sebastian Fryc also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Cedarcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Bellevue not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 11-1). They came out on top against Highline by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.
Like Cedarcrest, Bellevue also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Leaird. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Leaird has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Van Appledorn, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rankin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Cedarcrest pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bellevue, their record is now 11-9.
Bellevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Cedarcrest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Cedarcrest keep running through batters, or will the Wolverines buck the trend?
