Norton scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Phillipsburg, 20-7. At the time, the Panthers were ranked 18th in the state, while the Bluejays were 51st.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Phillipsburg, who took down 18th ranked Phillipsburg, 20-7.
Plainville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hadley Gillum threw for 73 and one touchdown and Dalton Werner had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Trevor Axelson chipped in 145 yards.
Blake Hudson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ellis lost to Oakley. He completed four passes for 48 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 106 yards. Hudson's favorite target this week was Jared Mick, who caught one pass for 25 yards.
Jb Covington's team's Sean Newlan and Seth Derr have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-Continent in both passing and receiving yards. Newlan has thrown for 570 yards this season, while Derr, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 11 catches for 456 yards. Axelson from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 1068 yards.
Smith Center extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Republic County, 45-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
