Volleyball Recap: Excelsior Springs Comes Up Short at Home Against Oak Park

Excelsior Springs unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Oak Park Northmen on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Excelsior Springs ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-17, 17-25, 25-19.

Excelsior Springs' loss came despite strong showings from Maddie Breshears and Camden Mcdaniels. Breshears had eight digs and three aces, while Mcdaniels had 11 kills. Breshears is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Excelsior Springs will challenge Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oak Park, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Park Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
