It was a good run, but the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They were the victim of a rough 34-9 defeat at the hands of Horizon Honors. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Augustine Catholic has scored all season.
Kiersten Ball was St. Augustine Catholic's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Megan Callahan held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
Horizon Honors' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amelia McCrory, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds. McCrory is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audriana Anglada, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
St. Augustine Catholic's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Horizon Honors, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will square off against Bisbee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bisbee is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Horizon Honors won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Phoenix Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Phoenix Country Day is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
