Boiling Springs is 2-8 against Trinity since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Boiling Springs Bubblers will welcome the Trinity Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Boiling Springs' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.
Boiling Springs saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Hershey. While losing is never fun, the Bubblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Trojans are ranked 11th).
Boiling Springs might have lost, but man, Ethan Yenser was a machine: he posted 24 points. Mason LaBuda was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Meanwhile, Trinity waltzed into their contest last Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Fighting Irish as they made off with a 70-45 victory. The Shamrocks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 25 points or more this season.
Boiling Springs better focus on containing Owen Schlager and Marcus Yeager as the pair were huge in Trinity's win. Schlager almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, while Yeager put up nine points along with six assists and six boards. Schlager's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Steele, who had seven points.
Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Boiling Springs' loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Trinity, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Boiling Springs hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.8 points per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging 72.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Boiling Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Trinity when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 79-74 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Schlager, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 30 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Boiling Springs still be able to contain Schlager? There's only one way to find out.
