Combs hasn't had much luck against ALA - Gilbert North recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Coyotes will square off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Combs has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Combs couldn't beat St. Mary's on Wednesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Coyotes came up short against the Knights, falling 23-11.
Combs saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angus Brumbaugh, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Brumbaugh has launched this season. Another was Coleman Biasi, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, ALA - Gilbert North earned a 7-2 victory over Deer Valley on Thursday.
Diesel Lund was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Bigham, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
ALA - Gilbert North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Combs' loss dropped their record down to 2-4-2. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their record now sits at 8-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Combs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like ALA - Gilbert North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Combs might still be hurting after the 15-1 defeat they got from ALA - Gilbert North in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
