The Wilkes Central Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Surry Central 28-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wilkes Central also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Surry Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allen Huffman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Huffman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Wilkes Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Surry Central, their defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7.
