For the second straight game, Spring Creek will face off against Lowry. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Buckaroos at 11:00 a.m. Spring Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Spring Creek's last matchup with Lowry could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Spartans lost 13-1 to the Buckaroos. The Spartans have struggled against the Buckaroos recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
For Lowry's part, Maite Bengochea made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Bengochea has posted over her last five matchups. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Natalya Guizar was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Adalyn Entwistle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lowry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only posted an OBP of .292.
Lowry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Spring Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Spring Creek hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
