The Mountain House Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Manteca Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain House's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Manteca's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mountain House is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over Sierra on Tuesday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Haylie Townsley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mountain House got a massive performance out of MacKenzie Coffman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Coffman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabel Obaob, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Mountain House always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Manteca suffered their closest loss since May 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Central Catholic by a score of 3-1. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Isabel Tonna was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Marissa San Nicolas was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Mountain House has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. Manteca's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain House hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Manteca struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain House suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Manteca when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Mountain House avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
