Softball Recap: Sahuarita Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Sahuarita won against Ironwood Ridge last Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Mustangs' way against the Cholla Chargers as they made off with a 12-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sahuarita got a massive performance out of Eliana Romero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Vargas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Romero wasn't the only one making solid contact: Sahuarita kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Sahuarita's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cholla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Sahuarita will venture away from home to face off against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cholla, they will welcome Rio Rico at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
