Inter-Academic recap October 8, 2013
Germantown Academy extended the longest winning streak in Inter-Academic this week by beating Hun, 30-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Patriots.
William Penn Charter took down Valley Forge Military 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. James Biggs-frazier ran for 164 yards during the win.
Ryan Whayland threw for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 15-34 with 3 interceptions.
William Costello made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Quakers bested the Trojans. The 5-foot-11 freshman recorded 2 fumbles.
Biggs-frazier was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 8 carries as William Penn Charter fell to Lawrenceville School. Nile Hodges. also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
The Churchmen's Whayland and Evan Butts led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Whayland has thrown for 742 yards this season, while Butts, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 14 catches for 277 yards. Haverford School's Philip Poquie leads the league in rushing yards with 418.
An important game coming up in Inter-Academic this week will be when Episcopal Academy takes on Germantown Academy. Todd Fairlie's team is currently in first, while Matt Dence's team is in third.
The Patriots made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,256 from 3,710. The improvement was the result of a 30-14 victory over the Raiders last week.
