The Westminster Academy Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bradenton Christian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Westminster Academy never let their opponents score. They blew past SmartEn Sports Academy, posting a 41-0 win at home. The win was just what Westminster Academy needed coming off of a 42-7 defeat in their prior match.
Anthony Barbar was on fire: he threw for 356 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Wimbley Jr., who picked up 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bradenton Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over Out-of-Door Academy on the road. Bradenton Christian had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Bradenton Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Baker, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Colton Dempsey was another key contributor, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown.
Westminster Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Bradenton Christian, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Everything went Westminster Academy's way against Bradenton Christian in their previous matchup back in September as Westminster Academy made off with a 34-10 win.
