It was a good run, but the Portola Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Redding Christian 57-53. Portola was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Redding Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Wednesday.
When it comes to explaining why Portola lost, one person who can't be blamed is Connor Sheridan. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Sheridan is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Liam Bowling, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Portola's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8. As for Redding Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portola will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Chester at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Redding Christian, they will square off against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
