Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Trico's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

Trico won the last time they faced DuQuoin and things went their way on Friday too. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 8-1 win. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

DuQuoin's batters probably weren't too happy with Zoe Bennett, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Hayleigh Franklin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Lilly Sickling also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Trico hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DuQuoin struck out six times.

Trico has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for DuQuoin, they dropped their record down to 3-19 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Trico will face off against New Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for DuQuoin, they have already played their next contest, a 10-2 win against Herrin on the 10th.
