The Peck Pirates were the 40-27 winner over the Mayville Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Peck took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mayville.
When it comes to explaining why Peck lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Thomas West. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. West has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Gabe Gerber was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five assists and four steals.
Peck struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Jackson Buhl, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds for Mayville. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Buhl has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Langmaid, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Peck has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Mayville, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Peck will be playing at home against North Huron at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Huron is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Mayville, they will head out on the road to take on Dryden at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dryden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mayville in Michigan (Dryden is ranked 195th, while Mayville is ranked 617th).
