It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 67-66 victory over Miami Beach. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pompano Beach.
Jonathan Berwig was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Mason Rowan was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory got Pompano Beach back to even at 9-9. As for Miami Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pompano Beach will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Cooper City at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Cooper City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pompano Beach in Florida (Cooper City is ranked 225th, while Pompano Beach is ranked 455th). As for Miami Beach, they will head out on the road to square off against American at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
