Even though the Wakulla War Eagles scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks still came out on top. Port St. Joe took their game against Wakulla 69-57. For Port St. Joe, this counts as revenge for the 85-67 loss Wakulla walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Leading Port St. Joe to victory were Jaden Jenrett and Zay Jenkins. Jenrett dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Jenkins scored 18 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jenkins posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Harris, who scored nine points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Wakulla lost, one person who can't be blamed is Devontae Roberts. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with three steals. Roberts has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Nehemiah Chandler was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Port St. Joe has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Wakulla, they dropped their record down to 8-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Joe will take on Franklin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ethan Kembro and Jenkins. Wakulla will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (North Florida Christian is ranked 511th, while Wakulla is ranked 515th).
