Softball Game Preview: Colonie Central Wolfpack vs. Albany Falcons

Colonie Central is a perfect 4-0 against Albany since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolfpack are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colonie Central has four straight wins, Albany has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Colonie Central had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Niskayuna on Friday. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Silver Warriors. With that victory, the Wolfpack brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Ashley Hacker and Adrianna Laraway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hacker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Laraway didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Hacker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Hacker went 2-for-4 with three runs, while Laraway went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Katie Parisi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jadeyn Barbero, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Colonie Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Maple Hill hit Albany with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Albany's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Colonie Central, their record is now 7-2.

Everything went Colonie Central's way against Albany in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Colonie Central made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
