The Chester Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Okawville 74-24. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chester in their matchups with Okawville: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Chester had strong showings from Lexie Mott, who scored eight points, and Aubrey Colvis, who scored five points along with two blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Chester struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Okawville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alayna Kraus, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Kraus is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Wienstroer, who scored eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Chester's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Okawville, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chester will challenge Wesclin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Wesclin's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Chester has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. Okawville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Carlyle at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Carlyle is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
