If the West Side Pirates were feeling good off their 57-14 takedown of the Logan Grizzlies last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. West Side fell 42-30 to Declo on Thursday. West Side was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Declo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the defeat, West Side saw an underclassman step up: Miley Cundick scored 11 points. Harley Nielsen was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
West Side has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Declo, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Side will take on Firth at TBD on Saturday. As for Declo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aberdeen at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Aberdeen comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
