Make it seven blowout wins for the Marbury Bulldogs this season. They were the clear victor by a 52-28 margin over Elmore County. Given Marbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Elmore County is ranked 268th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Marbury to victory were Nasiyah Jernigan and Justice Blackmon. Jernigan dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Blackmon scored 19 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blackmon has scored all season. Elizabeth Woodfin was another key contributor, scoring three points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Marbury has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Elmore County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Marbury will head out on the road to challenge Chilton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elmore County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Holtville at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Holtville is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
