It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Summit ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Evergreen Cougars. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Sam Eldredge made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hogan Tobias was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Lucas Comcowich was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
