The Fairview Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Hicks Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Fairview's last matchup with Anacoco could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 19-4 to the Indians. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Hicks made sure to put some runs up on the board against Elizabeth on Tuesday. The Pirates blew past the Bulldogs 11-1. Considering the Pirates have won 14 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Williams and Addison Coffman made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Williams tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meanwhile, Coffman tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Williams went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Coffman went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Coffman has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Richardson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Micah Merchant was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Hicks lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Hicks' record is now 17-5. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Fairview came up short against Hicks in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, falling 6-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
