Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Genoa-Kingston). They came out on top against the South Beloit Sobos by a score of 67-54 on Saturday. Given the Cogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Sobos are ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Genoa-Kingston now has a winning record of 7-6. As for South Beloit, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Genoa-Kingston and Polo will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for South Beloit, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Alden-Hebron at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
