West Jefferson is 1-9 against the Indians since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The West Jefferson Roughriders will head out on the road to square off against the Mechanicsburg Indians at 7:30 p.m. West Jefferson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Indians are ranked 83rd).
After a string of three wins, West Jefferson's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Urbana on the road and fell 53-20. West Jefferson was down 40-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg entered their tilt with the Wildcats with 15 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 16. Mechanicsburg enjoyed a cozy 52-35 win over the Wildcats on Wednesday.
West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Mechanicsburg, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1.
West Jefferson might still be hurting after the 72-46 defeat they got from the Indians in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Jefferson was down 39-19.
