The Bowie Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Maud Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bowie will be strutting in after a victory while Maud will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Bowie has not done well against Rivercrest recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bowie enjoyed a cozy 50-32 victory over Rivercrest.
Meanwhile, Maud came up short against Detroit on Friday and fell 39-27. Maud has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mallorie Bishop, who scored ten points. That was a full 37% of Maud's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chesni Martin, who scored seven points.
Bowie pushed their record up to 13-9 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Maud, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Bowie against Maud when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 54-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bowie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
