The Mount Airy Granite Bears extended their postseason success on Friday against the Eastern Randolph Wildcats. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over the Wildcats. The victory was just business as usual for Mount Airy, who after 14 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Mount Airy to victory were Taeshon Martin and Tyler Mason. Martin rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Mason rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Mason has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played.
Mount Airy pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 48.24 points. As for Eastern Randolph, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2.
Mount Airy will head out on the road to face off against Robbinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Robbinsville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Eastern Randolph does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
