The Douglas Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Pinson Valley Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Douglas is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Clair County just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Fighting Saints, falling 10-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pinson Valley). They blew past Midfield 19-0 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the game before.
Aaron Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Pinson Valley is 2-1 when Brown posts two or more runs, but 0-11 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Marcelo Gabarron looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaylon Sharpe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamison Green, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Pinson Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .862. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Pinson Valley, they moved to 2-12 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.
Douglas came out on top in a nail-biter against Pinson Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Does Douglas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pinson Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
