Baseball Recap: Catholic Has No Trouble Against Christchurch School

Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Christchurch School on Thursday. Catholic put the hurt on Christchurch School with a sharp 13-1 victory. The matchup marked the Crusaders' most dominant win of the season so far.

Andrew Hoehn looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Catholic is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Catholic got a massive performance out of Carson Norton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Norton has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaxson Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christchurch School struck out seven times.

Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Christchurch School has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic will welcome Trinity Episcopal at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Trinity Episcopal's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Christchurch School, they will host Hampton Roads Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Christchurch School's pitchers better be ready for this one: Hampton Roads Academy has averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
