Spring is a perfect 10-0 against Aldine since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will head out to face off against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Spring's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last 13 matchups.
It was a proper cat-fight when Spring took on Nimitz on Thursday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Cougars. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by ten runs or more this season.
Brylynn Rickert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Maleah Grounds was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Xaida Bettis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in 14 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Aldine lost 21-13 to Eisenhower on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Spring pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Aldine, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-18.
Spring got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Aldine by a conclusive 20-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
