On Saturday, Evansville Mater Dei was the victim of a rough 69-45 loss at the hands of Owensboro Catholic. Evansville Mater Dei was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-23.
Leading Owensboro Catholic to victory were Karmin Riley and Hailee Johnson. Riley scored 15 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds, while Johnson scored 17 points along with 6 steals. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Randolph, who scored 12 points.
Evansville Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Owensboro Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evansville Mater Dei will face off against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mt. Vernon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Saturday. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Sacred Heart at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
