Eureka is 1-9 against Wells since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vandals will look to defend their home field against the Leopards at 3:00 p.m. Eureka has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eureka couldn't beat Virginia City on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Vandals lost 17-6 to the Muckers.
Eureka saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlee Sestanovich, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Wells entered their tilt with Carlin on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Railroaders with a sharp 21-3 win. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by nine runs or more this season.
Adriana Aguilar was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Jitzel Rivas, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .939. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wells' victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eureka hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
