After four games on the road, Calvary Christian is heading back home. They will take on Spring Valley Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Calvary Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
After soaring to a 46-point win in their last game, Calvary Christian came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Temple Christian by a score of 46-43. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calvary Christian has scored all season.
Philip Davie put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Wyatt Schlatter was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley Academy put another one in the bag back in December of 2023 to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against DePaul Cristo Rey by a score of 59-52. Given Spring Valley Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while DePaul Cristo Rey is ranked 700th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Camden Montes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season.
Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Spring Valley Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Calvary Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.4 points per game. It's a different story for Spring Valley Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 24.3 points per game. The only thing between Calvary Christian and another offensive beatdown is Spring Valley Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Calvary Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Spring Valley Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 46-39. Will Calvary Christian repeat their success, or does Spring Valley Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
