If the Lakeside Vikings were feeling good off their 71-51 takedown of the Towers Titans last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lakeside took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marist. While losing is never fun, Lakeside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Marist is ranked 114th).
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Tillman. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayd Muhammad, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Ritger, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Luke Harpring was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Marist, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside will take on South Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Cobb knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge. As for Marist, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. North Atlanta has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 172 points over their last three matchups.
