Baseball Recap: Clyde Wins Going Away Against Llano

It's playoff time, and Clyde had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Llano Yellowjackets on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Hudson Bullock and Sterling Wilson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Bullock tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wilson struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2025. At the plate, Bullock went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Wilson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Xander Davis was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Clyde: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Dematties, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one stolen base.

Clyde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Clyde has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Llano, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-8 record this season.

Clyde will square off against Iowa Park on Saturday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Llano does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
