After flying high against the Mesa Grande Academy Cardinals on Thursday, the Sierra Vista Dons came back down to earth. Sierra Vista lost to Polytechnic on the road by a decisive 51-33 margin on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Sierra Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Orozco. Despite the final result, he scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds. Orozco scored a full 30.3% of Sierra Vista's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hector Vizcarra was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 3 steals.
Sierra Vista's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Polytechnic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Sierra Vista will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against The Webb Schools at 2:30 p.m. on December 2nd. The Webb Schools has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Polytechnic, they will be playing at home against Holy Martyrs Armenian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
