The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots will head out on the road to take on the David City Scouts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Clarkson/Leigh took their contest with ease, bagging a 66-18 victory over Newman Grove/St. Edward. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Clarkson/Leigh's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Wyatt Crosley, who rushed for 161 yards and four scores on only eight carries, and Tucker Matthies, who gained 166 total yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Crosley is now averaging an impressive 105.4 rushing yards per game. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Corey Steffensmeier, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Clarkson/Leigh proved: they limited Newman Grove/St. Edward to a paltry one yards per carry. The team can thank Hunter Gall for the heroic effort on defense: he. Clarkson/Leigh didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask David City). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Humphrey-Lindsay 78-30. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Scouts with their most commanding win of the season.
David City's win came from a few key players Clarkson/Leigh will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Daren Vodicka, who rushed for 129 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries. He is becoming a predictor of David City's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Chase Kuhlman was another key player, rushing for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.
David City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Fabian Caceres Aguilar, Xavier Boss, and Judd Nickolite picked up one apiece.
David City's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Clarkson/Leigh has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 319.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like David City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 259.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Clarkson/Leigh was dealt a bruising 56-20 defeat at the hands of David City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Patriots, Cameron Hlavac (who rushed for 127 yards and four scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 175 yards and four TDs on only ten passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
