The Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls lost against the Estes Park Bobcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The game between Rocky Mountain Prep SMART and the Bobcats wasn't particularly close, with the Ocelotls falling 56-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaziel Perez, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Perez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rigo Navez, who scored 11 points.
Estes Park was led to victory by Jose Gonzales and Isaac Hill. Gonzales scored 13 points, while Hill scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzales has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Phin Smith, who scored six points.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Estes Park, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in DSST: Conservatory Green's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games. As for Estes Park, they will head out on the road to challenge the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Thursday.
