Softball Recap: Foothill Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

While Foothill put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Chaparral. The Falcons blew past the Cowboys 17-0. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Camren VanThomme was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Gilbertson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Selena Jose was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are 8-1-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chaparral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eldorado at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
