Eagle Valley hasn't had much luck against Grand Junction Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Devils will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 3:00 p.m. Eagle Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Eagle Valley fell victim to Holy Family and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Tigers. The loss was the Devils' first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grand Junction Central). They blew past Northglenn 15-1 on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.
Dayton Timbreza was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Grand Junction Central let Braydan Hartman and Parker Shahan run wild. Hartman went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Shahan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that Hartman has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lynch, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Grand Junction Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
The victory got Grand Junction Central back to even at 3-3. As for Eagle Valley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eagle Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grand Junction Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eagle Valley suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Grand Junction Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Will the Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
