Basketball Game Preview: River Ridge Hawks vs. North Thurston Rams

River Ridge is on a five-game streak of home wins, while North Thurston is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The River Ridge Hawks will host the North Thurston Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

River Ridge is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Capital: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that River Ridge blew Capital out of the water with a 69-34 final score. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Cougars are ranked 246th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Brandi Stanford, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 assists. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Cavalier, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

River Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Thurston was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Lakes 76-36.

North Thurston's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for River Ridge, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
