Sandusky and Vermilion are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Sandusky Blue Streaks will play host again and welcome the Vermilion Sailors, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vermilion took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sandusky, who comes in off a win.
Even though Sandusky has not done well against Perkins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sandusky snuck past Perkins with a 56-51 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given Sandusky's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Perkins is ranked 261st).
Sandusky's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devareya Rice, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Khiya Rameau was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Vermilion had to suffer through a rough 62-12 loss at the hands of Margaretta. Vermilion has not had much luck with Margaretta recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Sandusky's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Vermilion, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Everything went Sandusky's way against Vermilion in their previous matchup back in January as Sandusky made off with a 61-35 victory. Will Sandusky repeat their success, or does Vermilion have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
