It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over the Titans. Winning may never get old, but Archbishop Carroll sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Archbishop Carroll got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alejandro Isaza out in front who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Isaza has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Archbishop Carroll also got a significant boost from Ryan Castro, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.
When it comes to explaining why True North Classical Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zachary "Zac" Katz. Despite the final result, he threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Katz is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Bueno Jr., who gained 81 total yards and two touchdowns.
Archbishop Carroll's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for True North Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Archbishop Carroll will head out on the road to face off against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chaminade-Madonna is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. True North Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
