The Chattahoochee Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over North Springs. Given Chattahoochee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while North Springs is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why North Springs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Esmer Madesko. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with five assists and five steals. That was a full 55.4% of North Springs' points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Harris, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
