Even though the Christel House Eagles have not done well against Irvington Preparatory Academy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Christel House took down the 67-51. Given Christel House's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christel House's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lamar Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds. Jones continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Davis, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Irvington Preparatory Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Major Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Davis is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Ohuabunwa, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Christel House's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Christel House will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Tindley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Aviators at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thrival Indy Academy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
