The Columbus East Olympians lost against the Jeffersonville Red Devils back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Columbus East lost to Jeffersonville at home by a decisive 63-47 margin.
Defeat or not, Columbus East got some senior leadership from Madelyn Poe who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and Caroline Frost who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Poe scored a full 34% of Columbus East's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Messiah Trapp, who scored nine points.
Columbus East struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Columbus East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Jeffersonville, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Columbus East will head out on the road to face off against Columbus North at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jeffersonville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlestown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
