The Woodville Eagles entered their tilt with the Westwood Panthers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Woodville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-31 win over Westwood on Thursday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zayon Williams, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Woodville also got help from Tymarion Walker who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Williams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kavian Bryant, who threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Woodville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Westwood, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.
Woodville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westwood will face off against East Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. East Chambers is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
