AA Region III recap Oct. 16, 2012
Keenan's Peter Easaw rumbled for the longest rushing play in AA Region III this season in his game against Fairfield Central last week. Easaw scampered for 96 yards on the play and finished with 245 on the day as his team lost to the Griffins.
Fairfield Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Keenan, 42-18. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
North Central's dynamic duo of Grayson King and Anthony Spinelli proved tough for Eau Claire to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. King threw for 150 yards and one touchdown and Spinelli had 70 yards receiving. JP Faulkenberry helped North Central's passing attack out by catching five balls for 46 yards.
North Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. King has thrown for 1261 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Spinelli has 31 catches for 550 yards. Tristan McCathern leads the league in rushing with 641 yards.
A big matchup in AA Region III this week will be when Fairfield Central takes on Pelion. At the moment, the Griffins are in first, while the Panthers are in fourth.
Columbia made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,430 from 7,383. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 48-14 victory over Pelion last week.
