Baseball Recap: South Iredell Wins Going Away Against Forbush

South Iredell had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Forbush on Wednesday. The Vikings blew past the Falcons 13-1. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Gavin Melvin looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Reid Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Pinkham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

South Iredell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South Iredell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Forbush, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

South Iredell will square off against A.L. Brown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Wonders at the right time seeing as the Wonders are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Forbush, they will head out to take on North Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
