Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mountain Vista walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Ralston Valley Mustangs on Wednesday as they made off with a 40-19 victory. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by 21 points or more this season.
Ariana Akey had another great game (as she tends to do), rushing for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 312 yards and three TDs while completing 74.3% of her passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns she has posted since back in August. 82 of Akey's passing yards were hauled in by Addyson Devlin, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Ralston Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlyn Callahan, who picked up 135 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one TD on the ground. With that strong performance, Callahan is now averaging an impressive 100.3 receiving yards per game. Kailyn Korkus was another key player, throwing for 367 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.5% of her passes.
Mountain Vista's win bumped their record up to 18-0. As for Ralston Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.
Mountain Vista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 48-26 victory against Legend on the 25th. Ralston Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
